Oral history interview with Roy J. Grogan, 2010 March 16.

Interview with Roy J. Grogan, a successful real estate developer, a community and Methodist Church leader, a retired lawyer, a one time Chairman of the Kennedy and Johnson campaigns, a WWII soldier, an FBI Special Agent (1950-1953), and District Attorney for Parker County (1955-1958). The interview concerns Roy Grogan's family history since their arrival in Weatherford in 1861; Grogan's education in local schools and his extra-curricular activities; his service in the Naval Air Corps during WWII; his studies at North Texas Agricultural College and Duke University; his activities as an FBI special agent interviewing members of the Communist Party; his years as a District Attorney for Parker County and subsequent private law practice in partnership with Judge Fulgham; his retirement from practice and full time involvement in his rapidly expanding commercial real estate business, and in numerous community projects. Mr. Grogan fondly remembers growing up in a small, friendly town, where historically good race relations allowed for a relatively uneventful course of the Civil Rights Movement; a descendant of people with great enterpreneurial spirit, Roy J. Grogan expresses pride in his parents and grandparents, in his own achievements, and in his wife and children; while acknowledging the current economic difficulties, Mr. Grogan asserts his belief in the future of Weatherford as an academic and business center. Appendix includes Roy J. Grohan's two-page resume that covers his education, his service in the armed forces and in public office; his civic, fraternal, and church activities, and his professional and business posts.
